ICA manages three TAMS contracts for Northern Virginia. The services performed include all routine maintenance on 1,223 lane miles across nine counties, the Cities of Alexandria, Arlington and Fredericksburg and the Springfield Interchange in Northern Virginia. Responsibility covers 98 center line miles of I-95; 15 center line miles of I-395; 160 center line miles of I-66 and 17 center line miles of I-495. It includes 445 structures. The scope includes all routine maintenance normally associated with roadway, drainage, structures, roadside vegetation and aesthetics, traffic services, signs, lighting and incident response.
The Washington D.C. metro area is the second most congested area in the U.S. This demands that most maintenance work be performed at night when congestion is lower. With over 300 bridges comes the maintenance over 4000 overhead luminaries. Heavy volumes of traffic also creates a greater challenge to incident response.
